I just want to sleep!!!!

Last week, i couldn’t summon the courage to write anything, i just wanted to sleep. With the hope that if i slept, I’d wake up to a better country and ultimately a better world/universe.

However, that was not to be. i could go on and on about the things happening in our polity. I also empathize with the notion that the country is the way it is because it flows from the head-the leaders. My pain today however lies in the way we treat and regard ourselves. It is amazing how we think that an uneducated person-formal education- doesn’t have moral values or even if they can think right.

I am guilty, as many of us are. You know how we all judge a book by the cover, then something happens, and we are forced to eat our words, in this case our thoughts.

Anyways, there is this place i buy akara- bean balls- and the woman always gives me a wisdom nugget every time i bought akara from her.

The first was someone was sharing handbills for a church programme, i had collected it out of courtesy, but when it was handed to “mama akara” as we call her, she said, “i no go collect am o because i no go come and i no wan lie to God”. The question that immediately came to my mind was should we put courtesy above integrity? I know it’s a moral/ market place debate, but at the end of it all what matters?

I can’t answer it o, which is why i am throwing it out to us today. Courtesy over Integrity, which would you pick?

So i got tired of sleeping and again i am awake to the realities of my country and the world….
